Study of a patient's cardiac rhythms using an EKG may indicate normal or abnormal conditions. Abnormal rhythms are called arrhythmia or sometimes, dysrhythmia.

Arrhythmia is an abnormally slow or fast heart rate or an irregular cardiac rhythm. During a single heart beat, several electrical events occur. Sinus rhythm is the normal regular rhythm of the heart set by the natural pacemaker of the heart called the sinoatrial node.

It is located in the wall of the right atrium. Normal cardiac impulses start there and are transmitted to the atria and down to the ventricles.

An electrocardiogram — abbreviated as EKG or ECG — is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heartbeat. With each beat, an electrical impulse (or “wave”) travels through the heart. This wave causes the muscle to squeeze and pump blood from the heart.

A normal heartbeat on ECG will show the timing of the top and lower chambers. Heart block rhythms occur when the cardiac electric impulse is delayed or blocked within the AV node, bundle of His or the Purkinje system. Defibrillation is a treatment for life-threatening cardiac dysrhythmias, specifically ventricular fibrillation (VF) and non-perfusing ventricular tachycardia (VT).

A defibrillator delivers a dose of electric current (often called a counter-shock) to the gh not fully understood, this process depolarizes a large amount of the heart muscle, ending the dysrhythmia.

An EKG is a procedure that allows doctors to measure the beats of your heart, in order to determine the condition of your heart.

Once an EKG has been completed, the medical professional will receive what is called an EKG strip, which will show the electrical activity your. Trees are amazing. They are as practical as a log on the fire.

Arrhythmia, also known as cardiac arrhythmia or heart arrhythmia, is a group of conditions in which the heartbeat is irregular, too fast, or too slow. The heart rate that is too fast – above beats per minute in adults – is called tachycardia, and a heart rate that is too slow – below 60 beats per minute – is called bradycardia.

Some types of arrhythmias have no cations: Stroke, heart failure. ECG Rhythm Study Guide Junctional Rhythms Results from abnormal tissues in the ventricles generating a rapid and irregular heart rhythm.
